New Motion Tweening in FlashCS4

March 5, 2009 at 2:23 pm, Category: Unix, Web Development, by Luke

Despite being a systems administrator for NuBlue, I’ve been a keen user of the Adobe Flash package since its Macromedia days. Flash has always provided a simple method for creating motion/shape tweens between two frames on a timeline, but with the release of Flash CS4 Adobe has included a new more robust method of tweening.

Motion Tween

While the old tweening methods were simple they lacked customisation, additional steps like introducing guide layers were required to really take advantage of Flash’s animation capabilities. The new methods give you the ability to work with the stage rather than the time line. The new tween automatically creates an invisible guide line which can be manipulated in a number of ways, the motion editor also allows you to really tweak the effect of the tween in addition to the standard easing.

For animators this is a real step forward in Flash’s capabilities and for the developers that just want to good old fashioned tween, you can still create a standard classic tween! I expect to see much more fancy animation coming from the web developers on the NuBlue Hosting Packages =)

Check out this link for a video showing off the new tweening methods:
